Acosta and Quartararo Take Second and Third Respectively
Crazy Crash-Filled Race Sees Fernandez Also Crash Out
Jorge Martin of Ducati Lenovo Team emerged victorious in a wild and thrilling sprint race at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in Spain, leaving behind Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Pedro Acosta and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo.
The race was marred by several crashes, including one involving Quartararo, who fell on lap three. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS's Raul Fernandez also crashed out on the opening lap.
Martin, who started from pole position, maintained his lead throughout the seven-lap race despite immense pressure from Acosta. The Spanish rookie put up a valiant fight but ultimately had to settle for second place.
Quartararo, who remounted his bike after his crash, managed to secure third place, ahead of Gresini Racing MotoGP's Enea Bastianini and Prima Pramac Racing's Johann Zarco.
The Sprint Race format, introduced for the first time this season, saw riders competing in shorter races on Saturdays to determine their starting positions for the main event on Sundays. Martin's victory gives him a significant advantage heading into the Grand Prix of Spain.
