Mets Robinson Cano Leaves Game With Hand Injury After Trying To Steal

Mets' Robinson Cano leaves game with hand injury after trying to steal

New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano left Tuesday night's game against the Miami Marlins in the fifth inning with a left hand injury after attempting to steal home.

Manager Buck Showalter said after the game that Cano is day-to-day and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Cano was attempting to steal home with two outs and runners on first and third base when he was tagged out by Marlins catcher Jacob Stallings. Cano appeared to injure his hand as he slid into home plate.

The Mets went on to win the game 5-3, but Cano's injury is a concern for a team that is already dealing with several injuries.

Cano is hitting .272 with six home runs and 28 RBIs this season.

The Mets are hopeful that Cano's injury is not serious and that he will be able to return to the lineup soon.
